I live in Elmwood with my husband, Claude and freshman at Loras College son, Jean-Claude (AKA Johnny much to my chagrin!) I have been teaching in Elmwood for ten years. I have taught first through fourth grades here. Before our son was born, I taught kindergarten in Bartonville for nineteen years. Those were great days with the young ones but I have enjoyed moving "up" through the grades. My family laughs that each year as I moved up, THAT year was my favorite!
My family was blessed to be able to travel for six weeks during the summer of 2013. Claude and I traveled to Alaska for a land and ocean cruise trip. It was my first visit there. It was as beautiful as everyone had described. I learned more about a bear's scat habits than I probably wanted to know but as a science teacher it was very interesting.
After our annual July 4th Parade,to which everyone is invited @ 10:00a.m., the three of us flew to England for a month of bed and breakfast stays while driving through England, Wales and Ireland. We also squeezed in a trip under the channel to visit Paris. We had lots of experiences which I have shared with the class. Standing on the 0 meridian in Greenwich, England was a thrill!
